Westminster's ferry back in the water after repairs

(MENAFN- ProactiveInvestors)Westminster Group (LON:WSG) has told investors that the Sierra Queen ferry in West Africa is now back in the water following a protracted phase of repair. The vessel underwent repairs to a prop shaft in recent weeks and once sea trials are complete it will resume commercial operation. Peter Fowler Westminster chief executive said: 'The Sierra Queen is an impressive vessel and whilst the repairs have taken far longer than anyone would have liked due to numerous local challenges once she is operational she will be providing a much needed and eagerly awaited service.' Fowler also highlighted that demand for the ferry which connects the mainland to Lungi International Airport is expected to be high once it is operational due to increasing passenger numbers following the lifting of travel restrictions related to the Ebola crisis that had previously affected the region. "Now that the Ebola crisis has ended and new and existing airlines are expanding services passenger numbers are increasing and in this respect it is encouraging to see direct services from the UK have once again commenced with a new carrier Fly Salone who started operations this month' he added. 'The increasing passenger numbers mean that the fast safe and efficient transfer service offered by the Sierra Queen between the airport and mainland is expected to be in high demand." Westminster shares gained more than 16% to trade at 24.5p each on Wednesday afternoon.
