Single Membership For Multiple Activities Is Becoming Popular
When Rukaiya Kanchawala took a break after her stint at Jabong, she contemplated on joining a local gym, but knew she would get bored soon. That's when the idea of `single membership' for multiple activities' struck her and in February 2015, Classverse was set up. After a week long trial at RS 500, users can choose between a monthly membership of Rs 1,000 or Rs 2,500 to access a range of individual and group activities including yoga, horse riding, zumba among others.
Today , the startup offers over 70,000 different classes per week across 1,200 studios spread over Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore, Pune and Chennai. Through tailormade solutions startups such Classverse, Gympik and Gymer are solving problems like these, and help you get the perfect figure. Of late startups in the fitness and wellbeing space have set up shop with some even bagging angel funding . While Bangalorebased Gympik bagged $100,000 from angel investors in January 2015, Delhi-based Fitraq raised $150,000 in March and Mumbai-based fit ness discovery and marketplace platform Fitternity raised $1 million in July . The mushrooming of startups, and investor interest points to the enormous potential .
Amaresh Ojha's Gympik is an online fitness discovery platform with about 9,000 fitness studios from 20 cities list ed on their platform and 1500 unique visitors per day . Gympik offers cloud-based software and a personalised app for fitness centres which can be deployed by the managers, trainers and users to track performance and schedules. "When groceries, food and medicine are available on demand, why not gyms?" asked Srikanth Balakumar. Based on the `pay as you go' concept, Balakumar and Kushal Kumar launched Gymer in June 2015. Available through a mobile app and website, Gymer provides a cashless system for users to view gyms closest to their location and book hourly sessions. From small gyms charging `60-70 per hour to high end centres, users can book up to 12 slots .
With over 350 plus partners and 7,000 users spread across Bangalore, Hyderabad and Delhi, Gymer plans to launch in Chennai and Mumbai by early next year.
