Grinches on bikes swipe Christmas decorations from Calif. home

WEST COVINA, Calif. -- Two women who were caught on camera stealing Christmas decorations from a front yard about 20 miles east of downtown Los Angeles apparently picked the wrong house, CBS Los Angeles reports.

Homeowner Tami Madison went on Facebook to post security video showing the pair riding up on their bikes in hoodies -- one carrying a black trash bag -- and helping themselves to yuletide ornaments, candy canes and other decorations, worth a total of $300, the station reported.

"I was surprised how nonchalantly they were just going through and picking up the items. It's kind of like they were shopping," said Tami's son, Tyler.

After becoming a victim of a similar crime in 2009, Tami now has a lot of her Christmas decorations secured, the station reported.

"I would love to have the red and green star shooters, but those are the No. 1 product right now being stolen," she said.

Before the most recent robbery, Tyler had helped his mother install the security system. The Madisons have six security cameras installed throughout their home.

"Go down to your local Walmart. How hard is that? But no, it's easier for you to steal my decorations? If you want to steal them and put them in your yard, I will definitely know they're mine," Tami Madison said.
