Probe panel submits report in Vijoy case
Ahmedabad: The two-member committee of DGP (law and order) P P Pandey and DGP (Police Housing Corporation) Geetha Johri has submitted its report on the alleged confinement of 13 subordinates and four police drivers by additional DGP Vipul Vijoy in the garage of his official residence at Karai Academy in Gandhinagar on September 29.
Sources said that the report is expected to confirm the incident.
“Departmental inquiry or action against Vijoy could be one of the suggestions in the report,” said a senior police official based in Gandhinagar.
Vijoy had claimed that his subordinates were lethargic in work and hence he had called them at his residence to finish some official work. He also claimed that they were given all facilities needed for the work.
On September 29, when the subordinates informed the state police control room about their confinement, senior police officials rushed to the academy. The 13 policemen were then taken to the mess at the academy as they had alleged that they were not given food.
Inquiry was then handed over to DGP H P Singh. However, before Singh could complete his probe, Vijoy alleged strained relations between him and Singh and expressed fear that the probe could not be fair.
The state government then gave the inquiry to the two-member panel.
