CHENNAI: A case of inciting violence between two communities, registered against PMK leader Anbumani Ramadoss during campaigning for parliamentary elections in March 2014, was on Tuesday stayed by the Madras high court. The PMK leader was to appear before a Dharmapuri court in connection with the case on December 29.
Justice R Subbiah, granting interim stay on the proceedings of the case registered by Dharmapuri police, also dispensed with the personal appearance of the PMK leader in court and adjourned the matter to January 11 next year for further hearing.

The case was registered on charges that on March 27 this year, Anbumani created and circulated CDs containing inflammatory materials that could lead to disharmony between two castes. It allegedly contained things pertaining to an inter-caste couple which became a matter of unrest in the district following the death of the Dalit youth involved in the relationship, Ilavarasan.
Denying the allegations, Anbumani said the case had been foisted on him with a view to curtail his movements. “It is not uncommon in this country to file false cases against political leaders to tarnish and jeopardise their career,” he said.
