Al-Thawadi praises ties with Indian football body


(MENAFN- Gulf Times) Secretary General of the Supreme Committee for Legacy and Delivery Hassan al-Thawadi yesterday praised relations with the All India Football Federation, describing them as strong.

Speaking to the press yesterday, al-Thawadi said that relations with the Indian football governing body has been enjoying strong momentum for some time. He praised the remarks made by the Federation's president Praful Patel on labour rights in Qatar. Al- Thawadi said the comments were closer to the reality of what Qatar is trying to do in that field.

Patel had expressed the federation's appreciation of the efforts of the State of Qatar in treating Indian expatriates with respect and providing them with security and safety. He noted that the Indian expatriate community represents 50% of the entire Qatari population.

On the World Cup 2022, al-Thawadi said that the Qatari edition will be both an Arab and an Asian event. It will be the second time that Asia has hosted the event.
