College student ends life in Jetpur

A second-year college student allegedly committed suicide at her house in Jetpur town on Sunday.Deepali Pipaliya consumed some poisonous substance at her house in Hari Om Nagar locality, police said.

Rajkot: A second-year college student allegedly committed suicide at her house in Jetpur town on Sunday. Deepali Pipaliya consumed some poisonous substance at her house in Hari Om Nagar locality, police said. She was rushed to a private hospital in Rajkot where she died late on Sunday night.
"The exact reason for the suicide has not be ascertained yet.
She was unconscious when we went to record her statement. But she died soon after," said Jayesh Chaiya, assistant sub-inspector, Malviyanagar police station. Jetpur police will carry out further investigation. Deepali's father Arvind owns a dyeing unit in Jetpur but has been bedridden for the last few months after a paralysis attack.
Since January this year, six students have committed suicide in Rajkot. On November 28, a third-year college student Mukesh Baldaniya, 20, hanged himself in his hostel room at Munjka village on the outskirts of Rajkot.
Ravi Patel, a 19-year-old diploma engineering student from Wankaner town hanged himself at his house on July 23, while 20-year-old Rajdeep Dobariya, studying in the seventh semester at Takshshila Engineering College in Rajkot, committed suicide by hanging himself in a rented room on July 17.
Jay Sojitra, 19, another diploma engineering student, hanged himself in his hostel room on March 4. He was in his fourth semester. On January 7, Janvi Nagariya, 21, a first year information technology student jumped off the third floor of her hostel building.
