AHMEDABAD: The Pakistan Marine Security Agency (PMSA) abducted 70 fishermen along with their 11 boats near the International Maritime Boundary Line (IMBL) off Jakhau coast on Sunday.
Sources said PMSA also resorted to firing on a boat that capsized after catching fire. "It is possible that firing on the boat sparked the blaze," said Manish Lodhari, secretary, National Fishworkers’ Forum (NFF).

Lodhari said the Pakistan Marines also took away the fishermen who were in the boat that capsized. The fishermen were from Porbandar, Veraval, Okha and Mangrol.
This is the second incident within a month when PMSA has abducted Gujarat fishermen. On November 24, 18 fishermen with their three boats were taken away by PMSA off Jakhau coast.
According to fishermen, there have been seven instances of fishermen abduction since March 2015. Also, on October 2 too, PMSA had opened fire, killing one fisherman when they took away 72 of them along with their 12 boats off Jakhau coast.
The abduction came on the day when PM Narendra Modi addressed top cops of states on the concluding day of the DGP conference in Dhordo.
