Glowing tributes to Kakori martyrs

Floral tributes were paid to Kakori martyrs Roshan Singh, Ram Prasad Bismil, Ashfaqullah Khan and Rajendra Lahiri at functions held at Swaroop Rani Hospital and Chandrasekhar Azad Park here on Saturday. Martyr Roshan Singh was hanged here on December 19, 1927.

ALLAHABAD: Floral tributes were paid to Kakori martyrs Roshan Singh, Ram Prasad Bismil, Ashfaqullah Khan and Rajendra Lahiri at functions held at Swaroop Rani Hospital and Chandrasekhar Azad Park here on Saturday. Martyr Roshan Singh was hanged here on December 19, 1927.
On the occasion, a function was held at Azad Park where police offered 21-gun salute and played last post to pay homage to martyrs in the presence from people from all walks of life.
Skits and dance-dramas on life history of martyrs were staged by government schoolchildren to mark the day. The speakers recalled the supreme sacrifice made by Kakori martyrs Ram Prasad Bismil, Ashfaqullah Khan, Roshan Singh and Rajendra Lahiri. The Kakori martyrs were hanged at separate places to avoid public outrage.
It was demanded to declare Malaka Jail, where Roshan Singh was hanged, as national monument.
