BSNL to install 34 towers on border to counter Pak signals
Jaisalmer: BSNL, in order to counter the mobile signals from Pak mobile companies, recieved at the international border adjoining Rajasthan, is now all set to lay BSNL tower network in the entire border area.
For this, BSNL has sent a proposal to Union home ministry for setting up 34 new towers in Barmer and Jaisalmer area, with approval expected soon, said R K Mishra, BSNL CGM, during his stay at Jaisalmer.
He said BSNL plans to provide Wi-Fi network in many areas of Rajasthan, as part of which Ajmer Dargah and the high court premises in Jodhpur are included in the first phase. In areas having Wi-Fi, consumers will get speed equivalent to that of 4G though BSNL in has not planned to give 4G network yet.
As of now, BSNL has not applied for 4G network. In coming days, BSNL will be laying 3G network in Jaisalmer along with many other big villages in the state. As many as 1000 BSNL towers and above is planned to be erected in the entire state. Mishra said instead of making efforts to bring in 4G, efforts are being made to make 3G services better.
At present due to natural calamity in Chennai, bsnl became help of people and it is our introduction of better services. In regard to radiation from mobile towers, he said there is no such problem. Bsnl towers do not spread radiation and even private companies cannot do this because TRAI is keeping strict watch on this and if radiation spreads then there is strict action of cancelling license. There is danger of more radiation from mobile rather than towers. Media without any base is making radiation as an agenda. It has become a social issue. People protesting are such on whose house no tower has been installed therefore they are protesting on the nearby installed tower.
Meanwhile, to end the problem of call drop, more towers need to be installed, which we are working on. as once one goes out of the range of the tower, he faces a call drop. Therefore more towers will solve this problem. He said BSNL is working on improving its marketing and services and getting good response. He accepted that there has been reduction in consumers using landline consumers and all efforts are being made to tackle it.
He said attractive offers are being given to landline customers and it is being well publicised. In regard to getting network of Pak mobile companies, he said in entire border ares of rajsthan, networks of towers is being laid. Proposal for 18 new towers in Jaisalmer border area and 16 new in barmer border area has been sent to union home ministry and with installation of these towers, the problem can be solved.
