Social awards for Kamble, Chandgude

Noted author Uttam Kamble and social worker Krishna Chandgude from the city have been selected for the social work awards instituted by Maharashtra Foundation, a socio-cultural organisation established by residents from Maharashtra based in the US.

NASHIK: Noted author Uttam Kamble and social worker Krishna Chandgude from the city have been selected for the social work awards instituted by Maharashtra Foundation, a socio-cultural organisation established by residents from Maharashtra based in the US.
The Maharashtra Foundation (US) felicitates five persons each from the fields of literature and social work with cash awards every year.
This is the 20th year of the Maharashtra Foundation award and the felicitation is scheduled at scheduled at Balgandharva Rangamandir in Pune on January 9.tnn
Kamble has been selected for the Dr Narendra Dabholkar memorial award for his literature on progressive thoughts and support to progressive movements in the state. Chandgude will be awarded for contribution towards fights against jat panchayat and superstitions.
The other recipients of the awards in the social work category are social reformer Vidya Bal (lifetime achievement), social worker Bhima Raskar from Pune, and Pallavi Renke from Mumbai. In the literature category, senior journalist and award winning Marathi author Suresh Dwadashiwar will be honoured with a lifetime achievement award. Other recipients in the category include author Sharad Bedekar (Mumbai), Nitin Dadarwala (Mumbai), Ravindra Rukmini Pandharinath (Nagpur) and Ajit Deshmukh (Mumbai).
V T Jadhav of Sadhana Vachak Mitra Mandal said the contribution of Nashik in social reforms has received the honour through the Maharashtra Foundation's awards. "The selection committee had nominated three names for each category for these awards. The names were finalised by the US-based selection committee of Maharashtra Foundation."
