Muharram to end with trade fair
LUCKNOW: Eid-e-Zehra, a ritual which marks the culmination of the two-and-quarter-month mourning period of the martyrdom of Imam Hussain (grandson of Prophet Muhummad) is a time when Shia Muslims rejoice. Adding to the mood of festivity this year, Lucknow would be hosting a unique event, Khadijah Trade Fair, for the first time.:
Organised by members of the Hussaini Welfare Society, a registered social organization of Shia Muslims, the one-day open event will be held on December 21 at Imambara Shahnajaf.

Considered a symbol of good trading, the event is named after Hazrat Khadijah, the first wife of Prophet Muhummad, who was a successful and esteemed business woman.
Shia entrepreneurs across the state will be putting up stalls at the fair. So far, the organizers have received 40 entries from across the state, including Kanpur, Allahabad, Bareilly and Raebareli. The list includes some of the women entrepreneurs of Lucknow.
From mehndi and bangles to games and food, the fair would have a variety of stalls catering to all age groups. As most Shia Muslims abstain from feasting during Muhurram, there would be a variety of mouth-watering eatables at the food court.
