His 57th birthday was something special for former Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy, who is president of the State unit of JD(S).

His son Nikhil Gowda offered a ‘celluloid gift’ by making a grand entry into the tinsel world through Jaguar at a star-studded event organised in Kanteerava Stadium.

The teaser of Jaguar, which shows Nikhil toning his body, learning the basics of acting and fine-tuning his dancing skills, was released.

It can be described as a brief introduction about the making of Nikhil as an actor. In fact, Nikhil has been preparing to face the camera for six months. He even went to Bangkok, Thailand to learn Jaika stunts under Kecha Khamphakdee, who usually choreographs for Telugu films.

The Who’s Who of Sandalwood and the political world turned up for the colourful event.

Noted cinema personalities, including Shivarajkumar, Ambarish, Ravichandran, Jayanthi, Bharati Vishnuvardhan, B. Saroja Devi, Jayamala, Dorai Bhagavan, T.S. Nagabharana and Hamsalekha, blessed Nikhil. Former Prime Minister and grandfather H.D. Deve Gowda clapped the first shot, while grandmother Chennamma Deve Gowda switched on the camera as Mahadev, director of the film, announced ‘start camera’. Mahadev assisted Rajamouli in Bahubali . Jaguar is a bilingual being made in Kannada and Telugu.

Behind the story

The story was penned by K.V. Vijayendra Prasad, who also wrote Bahubali and Bajrangi Bhaijaan. The production team is elated with the script. According to sources, ‘it is a perfect blend of emotions, songs, drama, fights and dance with rich visuals’. Mahadev is planning to shoot the film in some unexplored locations.

The film is being produced by Channambika Productions, home banner of Mr. Kumaraswamy.

Shooting is expected to commence on January 4.

The film industry is not new to the Gowda family. Mr. Kumaraswamy was a reputed film producer and distributor before entering politics. Among other films, he had produced Galate Aliyandiru, starring Shivarajkumar.

Initially, the family wanted to ask Puri Jagannath, a noted Telugu film-maker, to helm the debut film of Nikhil. Later, the mantle fell on Mahadev, who will be wielding the megaphone for the first time.
