Haryana Pradesh Congress Committee (HPCC) president Ashok Tanwar and CLP leader Kiran Chaudhary staged a demonstration here today to protest against the alleged political vendetta against top party leaders on the National Herald issue.
The HPCC threatened to launch an agitation if the Centre failed to retract its stand on the issue and burnt an effigy of the PM as a mark of protest.
Tanwar claimed that while the Gandhi family, especially the party chief Sonia Gandhi and vice president Rahul Gandhi, had been cleared in the probe conducted earlier, the reopening of the case by the present government smells a rat.
Claiming that it was political vendetta, he said this had been done as a part of political conspiracy hatched by certain vested interests. While the party had full confidence in the judicial system, he said the BJP was attempting to implicate senior leaders on baseless claims.
Today’s march was part of the stand of the Congress which decries any attempt of political vendetta by the ruling party, he claimed.
Tanwar also decried the raid conducted at the office of Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal by stating that it was vendetta politics against Opposition leaders.
Chaudhary also lambasted the union and state government for its failure on various fronts.
MLA Lalit Nagar, former MLA Anand Kaushik, Baljit Kaushik and Vikas Chaudhary were among hundreds of workers and supporters who took part in the demonstration.
