Amritsar, December 13

Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader and senior lawyer of the Supreme Court, HS Phoolka, has sought an apology from PPCC president Captain Amarinder Singh over his remarks absolving his colleague in the Congress party Jagdish Tytler of not being involved in the anti-Sikh riots of 1984, which had broken out after the assassination of the then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi.

Addressing mediapersons here today after completing his 30-km cycle rally, he claimed that Capt Amarinder Singh had used Jagdish Tytler and leaders of his ilk to secure the presidentship of the PPCC. Now, in order to pay back, he is giving a clean chit to Tytler.

He added that it was unbecoming of a leader of Punjab and that he was unfit to represent Sikhs of the state in the Congress. He asserted that Amarinder must seek an apology from the victims of the anti-Sikh riots and the people of Punjab for his false statement.

He alleged that Capt Amarinder Singh had invariably changed his statements of visiting the riot victims at Delhi on November 2 and later on November 3, 1984. Phoolka claimed it was all a pack of lies as the camps had become operational from November 6 onwards.

He said Capt Amarinder Singh, a scion of the Patiala royal family, campaigns among the electorate in helicopters. On the other hand, being a representative of AAP, he campaigns on a bicycle and would continue to do the same.

Along with members of the AAP, Phoolka took out a 30-km cycle rally from Majha College of Tarn Taran to Jallianwala Bagh.
