CHENNAI: Former director general of police (DGP) R Nataraj has been expelled from AIADMK for anti-party activities, party general secretary and Tamil Nadu chief minister J Jayalalithaa said on Sunday.
In a statement, Jayalalithaa said: "Following his anti-party activities, Nataraj has been expelled from party membership with effect from Sunday. No cadres should keep in touch with him."
It is alleged that Nataraj made a comment on the state government’s flood relief operations in an interview to Tamil TV channel.
However, Nataraj denied that he had given any interview to the channel.
Nataraj told TOI that there had been some confusion and that the matter had been sorted out.
''I never gave any interview to media on rain relief or anything else. The channel has given a clarification. The matter has been explained," the former DGP said, adding that he would send a communication to the AIADMK chief.
Soon after Jayalalithaa came back as chief minister in 2011, he was appointed as chairman of the Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission (TNPSC) for a little over two years and was replaced by A Navaneethakrishnan.
After retirement, he joined AIADMK on April 1, 2014.
