MLC election: only six seats to witness polling

The withdrawal of candidates from contest in the election to the Legislative Council from local bodies’ constituency continued for the third day on Saturday, the day the deadline ended, leaving polls to only six seats in four districts.

The election will now take place for two seats each in Mahbubnagar and Ranga Reddy and one each in Nalgonda and Khammam on December 27.

The counting of votes will be held on December 30.

On Saturday, two Independent members withdrew in Karimnagar, which ensured the unanimous victory of TRS candidates N. Laxman Rao and T. Bhanuprasad Rao for the two seats in the district.
