Locality oblivious to its SRK connection

December 13, 2015 12:00 am | Updated March 24, 2016 03:23 pm IST - Bengaluru:

Jayamahal Extension, the much sought-after residential pocket in Bengaluru, has been home to several celebrities and bureaucrats.

Actor Shah Rukh Khan’s grandfather, Iftekhar Ahmed, who was a top bureaucrat in the State, also lived in the area, but the residents of the locality are oblivious to this Bollywood connection. More than four decades after his death, Iftekhar Ahmed seems to be more known than his actor grandson.

M.K. Gunasekhar, councillor, Jayamahal, said that not many in the area know of the Shah Rukh Khan connection to the house.

The only man aware of this is Syed Zakir, a vendor who has been selling tender coconuts in front of the house for two decades now. “We have been taking care of the house for some time. The house is being rebuilt by Shah Rukh Khan, whom I am yet to meet in the 20 years that I have been working here. He came here some years ago but at night,” he said.
