Eberhard named Outstanding No-Till Farmer

A Seneca County farmer has been named Ohio’s Outstanding No-Till Farmer.

Lynn Eberhard who farms near Bellevue began with no-till in 1982.

“And on my own farm I’ve never done any tillage since then,” said Eberhard. “My dad had done some rotational no-till, I guess you’d call it and then after he passed away we’ve been 100% no-till.”

Eberhard and sons, Greg and Eric, are also planting cover crops to help improve soil health.

“I first did it for moisture removal,” Eberhard said. “In wheat stubble in the spring it’s always wet, so I started putting cereal rye to dry that up so there’s something green and growing there when we go in and plant, that seems to be helping and it just kind of evolved from there.”

The Eberhards were recognized at the Ohio No-Till Conference.
