Dairy farmers spilled over 40 litres of milk on the busy Kottayam-Kumily road in protest against the strike by Milma employees, which has since been called off, on Thursday.

The protest by dairy farmers, including women from Pampady, Vadavathur, Ayarkunnam, and Manarcadu areas, at the Milma Dairy Unit at Vadavathur was under the leadership of director K.K. Jacob against the strike.

Huge loss

According to the protesters, they were against the method of agitation taken up by the employees which had resulted in a huge loss to the dairy sector.

The Milma had not collected the milk on Thursday morning.

It had gone waste leading to the protest by the dairy farmers.

Silent protest

Dairy farmers from Areeparambu, Rampuram North and Kadappalam took out a silent protest march holding milk cans to the District Collectorate in the evening.

Meanwhile, the strike resulted in scarcity of milk on Thursday.
