Mega flute festival in Hyderabad on Jan. 31

The Hyderabad Sangamam Foundation will organise ‘Mahabrinda Venuganam’, a mega flute festival, at Lalita Kala Thoranam in Hyderabad on January 31.

Addressing a press conference here on Wednesday, Deputy Speaker and Mega Flute Festival committee chairman Mandali Buddha Prasad said the event was aimed at bringing back the past glory of flute. The event would also provide a platform for artistes, teachers and students to participate in a mega event. The objective was to generate curiosity among present generation about flute. Sangamam Foundation founder Sanjay Kishore said more than 200 flute artistes and students were expected to take part in the event. They would render seven selected songs at the mega concert. At the same venue, about 10 celebrated flautists would give a separate performance, he said.

At 200 pre-meets with the flute artists from Telangana and Andhra Pradesh it was decided to sing seven patriotic and classical songs at the mass flute concert. Vandemataram, Sare jahase acha, raghupati raghava rajaram, ham honge kamyab, paluke bangaramayena, adivo alladivo, and ra ra venugana bala … songs were selected, he said adding for further details contact 7382430999 or visit www.sangammamfoundation.com

Noted flautist Dattatreya and others prepared notations for these songs. Food and accommodation would be provided to the artistes and students who take part in the event. Kendriya Vidyalaya music teacher Indrakeeladri Sarma said it was a wonderful opportunity for flautists and students. Never before such a mega event was organised exclusively for flautists. “Though I have certificates and diplomas in other instruments such as violin and tabla, I feel that playing a flute gives me an immense pleasure and happiness,” he said.

Mr. Dattatreya, former MLC Ilapuram Venkaiah also spoke.
