Rani Mukerji and Aditya Chopra have become proud parents to a baby girl Adira. The couple welcomed their bundle of joy on Wednesday morning (December 9) in Mumbai and the news of the latest addition to the Chopra khandaan has left the family and close friends ecstatic.
Aditya's younger brother Uday Chopra took to Twitter to make the announcement. Rani has given the Chopra family its first chirag after a gap of 42 years.

Aditya's childhood friend Karan Johar took to Twitter to share his happiness. An ecstatic KJo, who is currently shooting for Ae Dil Hai Mushkil in London, is glad to become an uncle to a baby girl.

The association between Rani and Karan started in 1998 when the SOTY director cast Rani in his debut film Kuch Kuch Hota Hai. And since then there has been no looking back for the two. They went onto work together in films like Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham, Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna and Bombay Talkies.
Apart from KJo, Parineeti Chopra also congratulated the couple on the arrival of their baby girl. Parineeti made her Bollywood debut in YRF's 2011 film Ladies vs Ricky Bahl.

It's time for celebration at the Chopra house. In an interview to the Indian Express.com, Rani's brother Raja Mukerji said that mood of the family is joyous. He was quoted as telling the website, "The mood in the entire family is absolutely joyous and fantastic. Both Rani and Adi are absolutely ecstatic. Pam aunty is delighted because this is the first baby after Uday Chopra to be born in the Chopra family. So, the long wait has now come to an end."
Even veteran actor Rishi Kapoor wasn't far behind in congratulating Rani and Aditya.

The couple has named the child Adira, which is said to be an amalgam of the names of Aditya and Rani. "Adira rhymes with both Aditya and Ranis names. There couldnt have been a more beautiful name for the baby," added Raja.
After years of being in a relationship, Rani and Aditya tied the knot in April 2014.
