Karnal, December 7

Yash Pal Singhal, DGP, today claimed that public cooperation was necessary for the police to meet challenges. "Sports is the only medium to garner public cooperation,” the DGP added.

Inaugurating the five-day 64th All-India Police Wrestling Cluster-2015 at Vachher Stadium in the Haryana Police Complex at Madhuban, the DGP said sports helped one in developing his/her mental and physical capabilities.

He declared the games open after taking the salute at a march past by the participating teams .This wrestling cluster would have games like wrestling, boxing, gymnastics, judo, weightlifting, among others .

Such wrestling clusters were earlier organised successfully by the Haryana Police in 1998 and 2008 at Madhuban andat Bhiwani in 2002 .

Jagdeep Singh,Sports Secretary, Haryana, the Haryana Police had so far hosted such national-level events 16 times.

Arjuna awardee and Olympion wrestler Yogeshwar Dutt lit the sports flame and medal winner of Asian and Commonwealth games Geetika Jakhar administered the oath to the participating teams.

Cultural programmes were also performed by students of DAV Police Public School, Madhuan, and MDD Bal Bhawan, Karnal.
