Kishtwar, Dec 6: Asserting that present dispensation headed by Mufti Mohammad Sayeed is taking Jammu and Kashmir to next level of development and prosperity, People’s Democratic Party MLC Firdous Tak has hailed the decision of State Government identifying Chatroo-Vailoo tunnel for execution under PPP mode.
“The historic measures to implement NFSA and identification of key sectors under PPP mode are sure to go a long way in uplifting the socio ecnomic condition of people and bring revolution in development sector”, Tak said on the sidelines of functions organised to kick-start development works with estimated cost of around Rs 20 lakh.
The legislator laid foundation of over half a dozen works to be executed by Rural Development Department under MGNERA with additional support from CDF in covergence model. The works included lane and drain works at Baigpura Cherhar, Semana Colony and Puhi. He also inaugurated several works at Umar Mohalla, Masjid Market and adjacent IFHSS to be executed by Kishtwar Muncipality under CDF.
He said that construction of Vailoo tunnel to provide all weather connectivity between the two regions of Kashmir and Jammu was long pending demand of entire Chenab Valley. “The concept was developed during the previous PDP-Congress regime. The then Chairman JKB and now Finance Minister Haseeb Drabu had finalised the proposal to construct the tunnel on PPP mode by the Bank”, he said adding that the proposal never saw the light of day as Congreas backtracked and in last six years no step was taken in this regard.
He said that in the recent Cabinet meeting the Government has given a go ahead to a proposal to open several key areas for private parternishp model. “Dr Drabu has kept his words and shaped his vision into reality. He has besides several other project identified Chatroo-Vailoo tunnel for PPP model which is yet another histroic decision”, he said.
Tak said that in just eight months the present dispensation has given a new direction to Jammu and Kashmir dispute severe financial and administrative mers created by the previous  regime. “The Government is living upto the expectations of people and bringing reforms in every sector”, he said.
The legislator asked the party workers to reach out to the common masses and spread the message and working of Government at the grass root level.
