Police on toes after 3-year-old goes missing

Nashik: The city police's success in tracing a four-year-old girl on Friday was washed away after a three-year-old boy was reported later in the evening. The child went missing while he was playing with his friends in an open space outside his residence in Bharatnagar area.
Mobin Hazarathussain Ansari, 29, a resident of Shivajiwadi in Bharatnagar area, said his son, Masoon, had stepped out of their house to play around 4.40pm on Friday evening.However, after half an hour, the child was nowhere to be seen. The family panicked and began looking for him in the vicinity. They approached the police after they could not locate him till late night.
Inspector Hemant Sawant of Indiranagar police station said that there were a lot of children playing in the area near the slum. "Being evening, a number of women were also out of their house shopping and taking evening walk. Since a large number of people were moving about, the way in which the child was kidnapped does not seem to have been noticed," he said.
Sawant said that a search was immediately initiated and the Nasardi river was searched on Saturday morning to check if the child might have accidently fallen into it. But the police could not find any trace of the child.
"The dog squad was put into action, but did not move outside the perimeter of the slum. Beat marshals also moved around the area looking for a missing child," he said.
The PI said that there was no CCTV camera in the vicinity to check for any movement. "The CCTV footage from a nearby petrol pump was checked, but it did not capture any activity related to the child. Being just three years old, the child may not be able to tell his address or locality. All efforts are being made to trace the child," he added.
