Man held after woman alleges rape

VADODARA: A man was arrested on Saturday for allegedly raping a 24-year-old woman by spiking her drink.
Dhaval Parmar of Gotri was arrested and booked under sections 376 and 328 of the Indian Penal Code after the woman filed a complaint against him.
According to the police, both Parmar and the complainant used to be friends. The woman had earlier filed a complaint of harassment against Parmar few months ago
The woman in her complaint said that Parmar, on Wednesday, visited her house under the pretext of settling the past dispute.He asked her to withdraw the police complaint.
"Parmar allegedly made the woman consume a spiked drink and took her to a guest house in Chotila in Surendranagar district. The woman told us that the accused raped and threatened her. We have begun an investigation into the matter," said Kishanwadi police inspector D I Mahida.
