About 60 employees of Andhra Pragathi Grameena Bank, a regional rural bank sponsored by Syndicate Bank, resented delay in clearance of their allowance arrears, by donating blood in the Indian Red Cross Society (IRCS) blood bank here on Saturday.

Main demands

The employees were demanding regularisation of casual messengers and clearance of their pay arrears, petrol allowance and graduation increment. APGB Employees Union executive committee members K. Dastagiri Reddy, R. Nagesh, M. Sunil, S. Mustafa, V. Pradeep, K. Rangayakulu and others donated blood on the International Volunteers Day and later submitted a memorandum to District Collector Ch. Vijayamohan.

Kurnool Superintendent of Police A. Ravikrishna, who inaugurated the blood donation camp, lauded the blood donation and called upon the youth to come forward to donate blood.

IRCS chairman G. Sreenivasulu said 1,000 units of blood would be collected in the next two months. The SP and the IRCS chairman presented certificates to the protesters who donated blood.

Similar protests were also staged in Kadapa, Anantapur, Prakasam and Nellore, APGB Employees Union leaders said.
