Five-day music festival begins in Mysuru

The five-day music festival of JSS Sangeeth Sabha Trust began here on Wednesday evening. Former ISRO chairman Dr K. Radhakrishnan inaugurated the event.

The 22nd music festival has been organised in memory of Dr. Shivarathri Rajendra Swami of Suttur Mutt. Shivarathri Deshikendra Swami of Suttur Mutt, music festival chairperson Vidushi Mysore Nagamani Srinath, art patron K.V. Murthy and other dignitaries were present.

Sangeeta Sevanidhi Award was conferred on C.G. Narasimhan. Likewise, those who have done outstanding contribution to the field of music were also felicitated. They include Nadaswara artiste Murali of Srirangapatna; Mridanga artiste Gurusiddappa of Challakere; Talavadya specialist Sudarshan of Mandya; dancer Krupa Phadke of Mysuru and art patron Latha Jamkhandi of Hubballi.
