Top official inspects DMIC township site

GREATER NOIDA: Nearly a year and a half after CM Akhilesh Yadav laid the foundation stone for an integrated township in Greater Noida under the Delhi-Mumbai Industrial Corridor, Alkesh Kumar Sharma, CEO and MD of Delhi Mumbai Industrial Corridor Development Corporation, inspected the project site earlier this week.
Officials of the Greater Noida Industrial Development Authority said meeting with Sharma is a step forward for the township."He conducted a detailed inspection of the site and also examined the site plan," said Deepak Agarwal, CEO, GNIDA. The township, which will be spread across 335 hectares and cost Rs 600 crore, will boost walk-to-work concept. A multi-modal transport hub in Bodaki and a multi-modal logistics hub in Dadri are also proposed under the project. The township, which will be located in the corridor's Dadri-Noida-Ghaziabad investment region, is expected to attract private sector investments of over Rs 33,000 crore over a period of 30 years, besides generating employment for nearly 60,000 workers.
Tenders for development of the township have already been finalized, said Agarwal. "Two leading firms have been shortlisted for development of the township. Tenders for appointing a consultant will be in place soon, following which work will start. We expect work to start by December-end or early next year and complete it within three years," he added.
Officials said the integrated township will provide residential space near workplace. "The township will be moulded on the walk-to-work concept," said KK Singh, OSD (Projects), GNIDA. "It will also provide a wide variety of services including hospitals, schools, retail malls, and security. While 51% of land use will be reserved for industrial use, the township will have large expanse of open green spaces," he added.
