VARANASI: After Prime Minister Narendra Modi put her in spotlight by acknowledging her efforts to clean Prabhu ghat, Naga girl Temsutula Imsong is all set to feature in a weekly popular show hosted by Amitabh Bachchan. The episose is likely to go on air on December 6.
Talking to TOI on Wednesday, Imsong said, “The very theme of the show, which celebrates the initiatives of ordinary people towards society and showcases their journey, is commendable.
When our team ‘Mission Parijat’ (earlier called Mission Prabhu ghat) was approached by the crew of the show in mid-October, we were exhilarated. The shooting in the city spanned two days and all the places we work on, including Chet Singh ghat, Prabhu ghat, Babua Pandey ghat, Sonebhadra kund, were covered.”
Imsong had started Mission Prabhu Ghat in March this year. As part of the programme a group of volunteers carried out massive cleanliness drives at Prabhu Ghat situated along the Ganga. Recalling her ‘dream-come-true’ moment and the rendezvous with megastar Amitabh Bachchan in Mumbai, Imsong said, “It feels like I am still dreaming. The feeling is yet to sink in. I, along with fellow team member Vishal Singh, had flown to Mumbai on November 24 to shoot the episode.”
“Initially, the ambience made me jittery but as I set foot on the stage, Amitabhji (Amitabh Bachchan) made us comfortable and at home. It was an altogether different experience. We were filled with nostalgia as we relived those days when we would sweat it out on the ghats,” she added.
Shishir Bajpai and Kalpana Ravi from Mumbai, who have been associated with Imsong and team Parijat via social media platform, also gave company to her in Mumbai. The episode will also feature a television celebrity on the show, shared Imsong.
Terming this feat as a motivating force for her team members, Imsong said, “Meeting our inspiration, Modiji (PM Narendra Modi) here at Diesel Locomotive Works (DLW) in September felt like an accomplishment. And now, chatting with the megastar himself is what has lifted our spirits to keep us focused.”
“We have been receiving great response from everyone via social media platforms and people, especially youths, from over 30 cities have joined in our campaign for a cleaner Varanasi and cleaner India,” she said.
