INDORE: A 15-year-old schoolboy, who was allegedly kidnapped from Ashta and brought to Indore in a four-wheeler, braved two criminals to resist an abduction attempt at Azad Nagar.
The class X student of a public school Ravi Singh, resident of Chacharsi village of Ashta of Sehore district, reportedly fought with the criminals and jumped off the vehicle when they reached a crowded area in Azad Nagar here on Tuesday evening.
He narrated the entire ordeal to the locals present at the spot, who helped him by taking him to Azad Nagar police station.
“Ravi has alleged that the incident occurred on Tuesday morning around 11:00 am when two unidentified masked men called him outside the school and put him in an Alto car. He was then taken to Indore,” said DS Chouhan, Ashta police station in-charge.
“On interrogating the boy and his friends and teachers at the school, it was revealed that the boy was not very good at studies. His two brothers, who are also in the same school, claimed that Ravi had told them during lunch break that he was going outside and would not attend the second half,” said Chouhan adding that it is possible that the boy went along with some people on will and then tried to make up a story to convince his parents where he was the entire day.
“Many such incidents have come to fore in the recent past where the kids narrate an entire incident of kidnapping to escape scolding from parents,” said Chouhan.
“Since the boy is a minor, a case under section 366 (kidnapping) of the IPC has been registered against unidentified men and further investigations are on. We also came to know from the local who helped the boy in Indore that they had not seen him jump out of the car. He was just standing on the road asking for help,” Chouhan added.
