Super Eagles to face Italy, Cote d’Ivoire test
What appears to be a major test for Coach Sunday Oliseh may be afoot, as the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) is planning to engage the team in international friendlies against European soccer giant, Italy, and one of Africa’s top teams, Elephants of Cote d’Ivoire, in the upcoming FIFA windows.
NFF President, Amaju Pinnick, told supersport.com that discussions were underway to get the two countries on board as the Eagles get ready for the Fifa 2018 World Cup and the Afcon 2017 qualifiers.
“We are still discussing, but nothing is concluded yet; but we wish to play African champions, Cote d’Ivoire in London,” he said.
“There is also a proposal to play Italy who are excited about playing Nigeria after we defeated Cameroun.
“We want to make the most of every Fifa window by playing top quality matches with good sides.” he added.
The Super Eagles will play a double header against Egypt next year in a 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier in March.
Nigeria will also await her opponents for the final group stage of the Fifa 2018 World Cup in June.
