Marxist veteran and Kerala Opposition leader VS Achuthanandan on Tuesday asked Chief Minister Oommen Chandy to emulate the initiatives taken by Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalithaa to regulate inflation in the State.
“Jayalalithaa is taking keen interest in controlling prices of essential commodities in Tamil Nadu,” he said while speaking in the Assembly.
The nonagenerian leader mentioned the ‘Amma’ brand hotels and budget eateries launched by the Jayalalitha government which has become a hit among the public. The former Chief Minister also said the situation in the state is so pitiable that it is similar to the ‘starvation period’ experienced in the 1930s.
