Cong urges EC for action against CM for code violation

Congress leaders today complained to Election Commission against Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao and other Ministers for violating model code of conduct for the 12 MLC seats announced by it.

The Congress spokesman G Niranjan and Madhusudhan Gupta met the Chief Electoral Officer Bhanwar Lal at Secretariat here and appealed him to take action against the chief minister, ministers and other TRS leaders for violation of code. Since the announcement of elections for MLC seats from local authorities constituencies except GHMC area, all other districts come under election code including Adilabad, Nizamabad, Karimnagar, Medak, Ranga Reddy, Mahabubnagar, Nalgonda, Warangal and Khammam. KCR clearly announced some developmental schemes recently for Khammam district, while inviting some congress and other leaders into the TRS fold a few days ago in the TRS party office, they said. This is sheer violation of the election code and the EC should take necessary action, they said. They also hoped that the EC will take steps to prevent the government from implementing any sort of developmental programs and welfare schemes in the districts going to polls. (NSS)
