Former India captain Rahul Dravid revealed his movie ambitions with biopics on Mahendra Singh Dhoni and Mohammad Azharuddin set to be released soon.

Replying to his fans' queries from the Board for Control of Cricket in India's (BCCI) official Twitter handle, Dravid, who retired from international cricket after a disastrous tour of Australia in 2012, said he would like to play himself in his own biopic if it were ever made.

In the recent past helming biopics of sportspersons have served the film industry well. A biopic on world cup winning Indian skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni titled 'M. S. Dhoni: The Untold Story' is under production. The film is being directed by Neeraj Pandey and Sushant Singh Rajput is playing the role of the attacking wicketkeeper-batsman. The film is bankrolled by Rhiti Sports Management Private Limited, which manages the commercial interest of Dhoni.

Also, a biopic on Indian cricketer Mohammed Azharuddin is in the pipeline. Produced by Ekta Kapoor, the film has Emraan Hashmi playing the lead role.

The film is slated for a May 2016 release.

Dravid into Bollywood

If Dravid does feature in a movie, he will join the likes of Sandeep Patel, Ajay Jadeja, Vinod Kambli and Salil Ankola as cricketers who have made the transition from the cricket field to Bollywood.

Dravid was as famous for his good looks as he was for those exquisite cover drives and pull shots.

Since his debut in 1996, Dravid scored 13,288 Test runs and 10,889 ODI runs. Nicknamed the Wall for his solid defence, Dravid was considered to be the best number three batsman of his era.

Dravid is currently the coach of India's U19 team and is hailed as a great thinker of the game.

Jadeja, Kambli and Ankola did not have very successful tenures as movie stars but Dravid could be a mega hit. Who knows?
