Multiple iPhone 7 prototypes under testing: USB Type-C connector, wireless charging and dual camera expected YouTube

Recent reports from China suggest that Apple is testing around five different prototypes for its upcoming flagship phone, the iPhone 7. The key prototype features under rumoured development include multi-force touch, a USB Type-C connector, a unique display with integrated fingerprint scanner, wireless charging and dual camera.

Although AMOLED display is reported to feature in one of the prototypes, the company is unlikely to implement this technology on its iPhones anytime soon. However, recent rumours surrounding the development of USB Type-C connector suggest that Apple is likely to ditch existing lightning connectors and adopt the new USB technology compatible with headsets on its next-gen iPhones.

With the iPhone 7 expected to be a major upgrade over the existing S series, an entirely new design and a more powerful OS version are also on the cards. If there is any truth to rumours, the next iPhone will be launched in the high-end or premium smartphone segment in the second quarter of 2016.

Apple is yet to officially confirm any of these prototypes or the veracity of the rumours. However, the recent rumours have consistently pointed to a couple of these prototypes.
