Spl Lokayukta court quashes four FIRs against Yeddyurappa

With the high court quashing former governor HR Bhardwaj's sanction for prosecuting ex-chief minister BS Yeddyurappa, the Lokayukta court on Monday also gave further reprieve to the veteran BJP politician by striking down four other FIRs against him.

BENGALURU: With the high court quashing former governor HR Bhardwaj's sanction for prosecuting ex-chief minister BS Yeddyurappa, the Lokayukta court on Monday also gave further reprieve to the veteran BJP politician by striking down four other FIRs against him. These were the first to be filed against Yeddyurappa in the series of land denotification cases. On Monday, citing the HC order which set aside the sanction for prosecution, the court dismissed the cases against Yeddyurappa.

The cases included three instances pertaining to misconduct allegedly committed by Yeddyurappa and others. The first is with regard to alleged pecuniary advantage received by Davalagiri Property Developers Pvt. Ltd; the second is criminal breach of trust allegedly committed by Yeddyurappa by illegal denotification of land in Sy. No. 151, 152, etc., of Sreerampura village, for the benefit of Besto Infrastructure Bangalore Pvt. Ltd; the third is alleged illegal allotment of Site No.1 to BY Raghavendra, Yeddyurappa's son, and Site No.2 to Bharati Shetty, MLC, in RMV II Stage, Bengaluru.
Yeddyurappa is also said to have illegally alloted Site No.33A, HSR Layout to RP Shankar, maternal uncle of Sohan Kumar, son-in-law of Yeddyurappa, and the subsequent illegal transfer of that site to Sohan Kumar. The second instance pertains to alleged illegal gratification obtained by Yeddyurappa from Davalagiri Properties and Developers, Bhagath Homes Pvt. Ltd., and Shobha Karandlaje from Adarsh Developers-Group of Companies.
Also included in the list of charges against Yeddyurappa was alleged criminal breach of trust by illegally denotifying 5 acres 13 guntas in Sy.No.78 of Nagarabhavi village, acquired for the formation of Nagarabhavi Ist Stage Layout in wilful disobedience of the orders of the Supreme Court and the high court.
BSY gets his passport back:
Following the quashing of the FIRs, the court also handed over Yeddyurappa his passport which was impounded following his arrest in 2012.
Meanwhile, Yeddyurappa's then colleague Janardhana Reddy, arrested by the Lokayukta Special Investigation Team in the illegal mining scam, got bail after he furnished two sureties and a Rs 5 lakh bail bond.
