Girl stabbed for spurning youth

A first year college girl was reportedly stabbed by a 25-year-old youth for declining his marriage proposal here on Monday.

The victim was identified as S. Soundarya of Nallampatti Kattu Valavu , who is pursuing her B.A at a private college in the city. The police said that M. Siddeswaran (25) of the same village and community expressed his desire to marry her many times over the past year. When she refused to accept the proposal, he tried to intimidate her. On Monday, when the girl was on her way to attend nature’s call, he intercepted her and asked her to marry him.

When she rejected the proposal, he took out a knife, stabbed her. She was rushed to a hospital. A hunt is on for the youth. Doctors attending her said that she is out of danger. Based on a complaint from her father, the Magudanchavadi police registered a case. A search is on for the accused.
