December 01, 2015 12:00 am | Updated March 24, 2016 01:11 pm IST - Mysuru:

Vyjayantimala Bali, renowned Bharatanatyam exponent and cine actress, said that she never went to college because dance became an education by itself for her and music became a part of her dance.

Delivering the convocation address of the first annual convocation of the Karnataka State Dr. Gangubai Hangal Music and Performing Arts University on Monday, she said that she was researching the rare, old forgotten temple dance forms and making stage presentations..

This has prompted her to recall Martha Graham’s (who was an American modern dancer and choreographer) famous words “Dance is the hidden language of the soul”.

She noted that being a Bharatanatyam dancer, she hailed from a family in Mysuru. The veteran actress said that education is of prime importance in India to build a strong future generation.
