Within minutes, he got a response on Twitter.

The railway authorities on Sunday extended help to a passenger who sought assistance for his paralysed father via a tweet to the railways ministry.

Pankaj Jain, a businessman based in Bengaluru and hailing from Rajasthan, was travelling with his father Sumermal Jain, 58, on Yesvantpur-Bikaner Express, for treatment of his father’s paralysis.

Along with his family, he was headed to Butati Dham temple, which provides free treatment to paralysed patients.

However, the train stops only for three minutes at Merta Road railway station, which was not enough for him to deboard with his father.

Jain asked the Train Ticket Examiner and the guards for help, but in vain.

Festive offer

Then, following his friend’s advice, he sought the help of Divisional Railway Manager, Jodhpur, and the Ministry of Railways via Twitter.

Within minutes, he got a response on Twitter.

“…when the train stopped… there were three officials, including the station master, waiting to assist us,” Jain said.
