The retailer regularly hosts price matches and lightning deals across home, tech and even baby essentials. Not to mention special promotions for Amazon Prime members . But it's important to know where to look on the site if you're hunting for a bargain.

If you're thinking about buying an item, but it's not urgent, like a laptop upgrade, check out Amazon's Upcoming Deals page, where you can stalk what deals are coming up and how long they'll be live for.

    When a deal's not a deal

Amazon has some fabulous discounts, so fabulous, in fact, they can be hard to believe.

So before you get tempted to buy something that's an incredibly 85% off, check the price elsewhere.

Do a quick search for the product name on Google, or Google Shopping and see what price others are charging for it.

You can also see how the price has changed on Amazon itself using a service like CamelCamelCamel - which tracks prices on Amazon to see if products are regularly discounted or of you're getting a genuine special offer - you can even plug it into your web browser to check automatically.
