Pope Francis leaves the Central African Republic as his first trip to Africa comes to an end

Pope Francis has left Central African Republic after celebrating Mass before tens of thousands of believers, ending his first trip to Africa.

The pope's Alitalia plane took off from the capital, Bangui after he visited a Muslim enclave at the centre of inter-religious violence and celebrated a Mass before tens of thousands of believers at the national stadium.

The Pope began his first tour around Africa in Kenya and Uganda before going to the Central African republic.
