Amitabh Bachchan's scooter that he is seen riding in, while shooting for Ribhu Dasgupta Te3n is worth 1 Crore! It's just another Sunday morning on Red Road, but the large crowd blocking the view points to a different story . On looking closer we see a lean, bearded, rather sombrelooking man zipping down the road quite fast on his scooter. The man in black riding pillion, however, is standing out.
Hey , that's
Nawazuddin Siddiqui! someone in the crowd exclaims, only to be shot down by an instant quip: Oh really!? We were so busy looking at Amitabh Bachchan riding the scooter that we hardly noticed. Thanks though. And beyond the craning necks and wagging tongues, the megastar coolly wraps up his sequence by 1.45 pm.
But even the ride has a history , however short. On Saturday , when the team was shooting on the premises of
Writers' Buildings -where police headquarters Lalbazar was recreated for Ribhu Dasgupta's
Te3n -the megastar was busy familiarising himself with the two-wheeler. Filmmaker Arindam Sil, who is the production consultant of the team, told us, The scene was that of a melancholic man sitting at a government office for hours on end. Though he was tied up all day , the veteran actor tried his hands at the scooter, despite the fact that he's already come fully prepared. There is so much to learn from him.
But the one who is most excited about the scooter ride is the machine's owner, Sujit Sur. The transport supplier was approached by the unit three months back. This second-hand scooter is about 20 years old. I bought it 13 years back and still use it. The unit came with a sketch of what they needed and my scooter's colour matched their requirements. I was thrilled, says Sujit aka Bhaida. He serviced the scooter several times and kept using it till the unit took it away and modified the seats.Sujit is now keen to treasure it.I will not be able to lend out the scooter ever again. I want to keep it at my Tollygunge home with a life-size photo of Bachchan. And also, the scooter that he rides is not less than a crore in worth. So, there's no question of selling it, the beaming 43-year-old said.
It's heard that the unit had bought another second-hand scooter online, but settled for this one as it goes well with the man on it -vulnerable yet ruthless, fragile yet strong, timid yet bold, old in appearance, but perhaps the youngest at heart. Like man, like machine!
