Tar roads to be laid at Rs. 11.29 crore

Roads will be laid at Suramangalam and Ammapettai zones

The Suramangalam and Ammapettai zones of Salem Corporation will get 19 new tar roads to a length of 13.96 km at an outlay of Rs. 11.29 crore.

The roads will be laid under the Tamil Nadu Special Roads Project.

Puja performed

Minister for State Highways and Minor Ports Edappadi K. Palanisamy participated in the ‘boomi puja’ for the launching of the new project at Mullai Nagar and also at Jothi Talkies main road in the city on Sunday.

While ten tar roads will be laid to a length of six km at an outlay of Rs. 5.04 crore in Suramangalam zone, a sum of Rs. 6.25 crore has been earmarked for the laying of nine tar roads in Ammapettai zone.

The tar roads proposed in Suramangalam zone are: Reddipatti Mariamman Temple to Mottur; Sinna Ammpalayam and Kurinji Nagar; Sivaya Nagar main road; Lake bund road to Tirumalnagar; Alamarakkadu main road; Dharma Nagar first street and Kalidasan street; Avvai market; Mullai Nagar main road; Sinneri Vayalkaadu road; Thammannan road.

The tar roads planned in Ammapettai zone are: Seelavari main road; Veeranan main road; Periyar street; Sinnakadai street, Jothi talkies main road; Pudhu theru; Tiru Vi. Ka. Road; Pachapatti main road; Chairman Ramalingam main road.

Mayor S. Soundappan, Corporation Commissioner K. R. Selvaraj and others were present on the occasion.
