November 30, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:45 am IST - DAVANGERE:

Chief Minister Siddaramaiah is not ready to take action against Lokayukta Y. Bhaskar Rao as the latter had helped him escape from legal action in the Arkavati denotification case, the former Minister M.P. Renukacharya has alleged.

Speaking to presspersons here on Sunday, he said that cases had been filed against Mr. Siddaramaiah, Ministers D.K. Shivkumar, Dinesh Gundu Rao, Kimmane Ratnakar and R.V. Deshpande by private parties. But the Lokayukta dismissed all of them.

“Though agitations were launched to remove the Lokayukta, the Chief Minister was not ready to take action. He is trying to divert the issue by attempting to remove Upalokayukta Subash B. Adi citing silly reasons,” he alleged.

Mr. Renukacharya alleged that the State government was trying to systematically closedown the institution of the Lokayukta to protect corrupt and dishonest Ministers. The Chief Minister was not even ready to listen to the suggestions of Speaker Kagodu Timmappa, he said.

Mr. Renukacharya demanded that the State government clarify why action was being planned against Mr. Adi and list out the reasons to remove him from his position.
