Bombs defused

A plan to destroy Mahuli Bridge in Portaha along the East-West Highway road section in Saptari came to nought.

An unidentified group had planted two cylinder bombs under Mahuli Bridge aiming to destroy it on Sunday morning. However, the plan did not succeed after a bomb disposal team from Nepali Army reached the site and defused the explosives.

Locals had immediately informed police after they saw two cylinders kept in suspicious condition under the bridge. A police team jointly deployed from DPO and APO,Kanchanpur, reached the site, informed Nepal Army and asked it to defuse the bombs. SP Bhim Prasad Dhakal said a team of technicians deployed from Krishna Battalion in Rajbiraj had defused the cylinder bombs at around 11:00am today.
