Besant Nagar senior citizens' organize donation camp for flood-affected

CHENNAI: The Senior Citizens Group of Besant Nagar (SCGOBN) is collecting and distributing old clothes for flood affected people.
“During the torrential rains last week, it was pathetic to see the plight of the pavement dwellers in Besant Nagar,” said V Chandrsekhar, president, SCGOBN. “With little children in their arms with wet clothes on , with no food they were shivering under the trees.Many senior citizens provided them shelter inside their car sheds (garage) after removing their cars. Some provided them food, water and clothing. We request the corporation to open the community hall in Besant Nagar and provide shelter to the pavement dwellers during torrential rains. The hall can easily accommodate five hundred people.”
Those who wish to donate old clothes and blankets can drop them at the following collection points.
