The BJP might have marked its first year in office in the state on a low note, but its alliance partner, the Shiv Sena, is set to showcase its achievements in style. While Sena leaders are refusing to call it an anniversary celebration, the party has organised an event on December 3 to highlight its performance in the government.

Shiv Sena president Uddhav Thackeray will take a review of the ministers' performances and release a report card of their one-year stint in government. After occupying the opposition benches for a fortnight, the Sena had joined the Devendra Fadnavis government in December last year.

"It is not an anniversary celebration or bash. We will highlight our achievements and take stock of our performance. Uddhav will take a review of the schemes we had promised to the people before elections. An action plan for the future will also be discussed," Shiv Sena MP Anil Desai told dna.

Senior Sena leaders Subhash Desai, Diwakar Raote, Ramdas Kadam, Eknath Shinde, Deepak Sawant took oath as cabinet ministers, while Ravindra Waikar, Sanjay Rathod, Dada Bhuse, Vijay Shivtare and Deepak Kesarkar became Ministers-of-State (MoS).

While the Sena did not get plum portfolios like Home, Revenue and Urban Development, senior leaders said that their minister's had done well. "Most of our flagship schemes have taken off. A lot of work has been done in the health sector and the industries department. Similarly, pending issues in the environment department have also been fast tracked. Our report card will reflect all this. In many areas, we have done better than the BJP," a Sena minister said.

In view of the drought situation in the state, the BJP had decided not to organize any anniversary celebrations. Fadnavis maintained that the government would only reach out to the people to explain development projects and schemes.

While the Sena is a junior partner in the government, it has been the fiercest critics of the Fadnavis government too. "Some big poll promises like tele-medicine, converting the Mahalaxmi racecourse into a themed garden, introducing educational tablets in schools across the state and opening up the eastern sea front in Mumbai are pending. These issues will also be discussed," a Sena functionary said. The Sena's event will be held at Ravindra Natya Mandir in Prabhadevi on December 3 after Uddhav returns from his tour of drought affected regions of the state.
