Prabhu launches logistics park at Rudrapur

DEHRADUN: Union Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu inaugurated the Multi-modal Logistics Park (MMLP) at Rudrapur here today.

Union Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu inaugurated the Multi-modal Logistics Park (MMLP) at Rudrapur here today. 

Prabhu said the Multi-modal Logistics Park would be a boon for farmers, entrepreneurs and traders of Uttarakhand. Poor farmers and entrepreneurs were benefited by starting railway container facility from SIDCUL. He said tourism was a main source of employment so an action plan would be prepared to promote tourism activities and development work in Uttarakhand. 

He said all railway stations of Uttarakhand would be modernised. This facility will contribute to develop Uttarakhand’s economy and local people will get employment opportunities from it.

The Chief Minister expressed gratitude to Suresh Prabhu for opening of the first Multi-modal Logistics Park of Uttarakhand. He said strengthening railway services in Uttarakhand was a challenging task. The state has a huge potential in tourism, therefore, expansion of railway services are absolutely essential for Uttarakhand. “All railway station situated in Uttarakhand are old and need to be modernised. There is need to make over bridges in several railway crossings,” he said.

Union Minister for Women and Child Development Menaka Gandhi, Union Minister of State for Railways Manoj Kumar Sinha, Chief Minister Harish Rawat, state Finance Minister Indira Hridayesh and MP Bhagat Singh Koshyari were present on the occasion.

Suresh Prabhu, Menaka Gandhi, Harish Rawat and Indira Hridayesh jointly flagged off the container. MP Bhagat Singh Koshyari said the Railway Ministry would expand its network in the state. He demanded railway services from Kathgodam to Mumbai, Kathgodam to Dehradun Intercity, Kicchha, Khatima and Sitarganj.  — TNS
