Nagpur: The incident of hit-and-run in which 47-year-old Sunita Makde was killed on Mansar-Ramtek road seems to be fast turning into a political issue as various political parties have started jumping into the fray demanding immediate arrest of the culprits. On Saturday, different organizations and political outfits joined hands to observe a day-long bandh at Ramtek protesting a slack probe of the rural police.

On November 14, pillion rider Sunita had sustained serious head injuries after she suffered a fall from the two-wheeler which was driven by her daughter Vishakha. She was shifted to Nagpur-based private hospital where she was declared dead on November 21.
The matter took a turn after a section of local leaders and activists started highlighting Vishaka’s statement where she claimed to have been followed by the culprits for almost 20 km before being dashed from behind and on the side, leading to the mishap. Local leaders, including former Sena MLA Ashish Jaiswal, started demanding the matter to be registered as murder along with the immediate arrests of the culprits.
